Today we´re celebrating the memory of Swedens first international table tennis star, Tage Flisberg, who, if he would still be alive, be a respectable 100 years old today.
His biggest success during his active career was silver medal he got after loosing the final at the WTTC 1954 against the legendary Japanese ace, Ichiro Ogimura.
Tage Flisberg was considered a table tennis innovator and the way he constantly developed his game was rather unique. Among Swedish players, he is the one with the highest number of gold medal´s in the Swedish National Championships, 43. His collection of medals would most likely be even larger if there would have been such a thing as European and World Veteran Championships during his era. Tage Flisberg passed away 1989.
