Mizutani was crowned Japan’s national champion already at the age of 17, he won the event five times in a row. His biggest success is the bronze medal at the singels event at 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. In addition, his Japanese team played China in the final – and won the silver medal. “I feel very happy! This is the best feeling ever!” he said after beating Vladimir Samsonov from Belarus in the decisive match for bronze in singles. Mizutani is father of one daughter who was born in October 2014.
